Optimise Your Website

We’re absolutely delighted to have a brand new website for Arch Communications, with lots more information about what we do. Equally important is ensuring it’s easy to find.

That’s where Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) comes in. Many people will be familiar with the phrase, but without really understanding what it means.

SEO is basically about embedding key words and phrases in your website, so that it easily comes to the attention of the likes of Google when someone is conducting a search using those words.

For example – if a potential local client is on the hunt for some support, they may type in ‘PR’ and ‘Nottinghamshire’. That’s why it makes sense to use variations of that phrase in our website copy.

Work out what you would type into Google if you were searching for what you have to offer. Then check to see if those words appear on your website. If not, add them.

But SEO can be strengthened even further by attaching such key words as tags or ‘metadata’. Even though they’re hidden from view on the page, they can be seen by search engines – and so increase the chances of your site showing up in a search list.

It sounds fiddly, but if you look at any page in your website’s production system, you should be able to see where you can put in these extra words and phrases as tags or keywords. If you have an expert to help you, even better!

This is why we’ve taken the trouble to go through all our old blogs on this site, to ensure that they have enough tags to clearly indicate what the blogs are about.

It’s not the most exciting job in the world, but in the competitive world of SEO, it’s important!

Finally – we must say a big thank you to our friends at Ketchup Marketing for creating such a great new website for us. If you want some work doing on your site, we can’t recommend them highly enough.
